There is a three (3) day waiting period, after payment has been processed, before you can take advantage of your free AAA Roadside Assistance. This applies for all new and newly reinstated members and Associate members, as well as for members who upgrade from a lower level of service to a higher level of service. Should anyone on your membership account require AAA Roadside Assistance during the three-day waiting period, there will be a service fee that must be paid prior to service being rendered.

Therefore, if you upgraded to Plus or Premier on the 15th of the month, the Plus or Premier benefits would not be in effect until the 18th.

Since the Roadside Assistance benefits for the upgrade do not take effect for 3 days, you will still be able to use your current plan’s Roadside Assistance benefits.  For example:
  • If you upgrade from Classic to Plus or Premier, the Plus or Premier Roadside Assistance benefits become effective 3 days after payment in full has been processed; however, if needed, you will be able to use the Classic Roadside Assistance benefits for those 3 days.
  • If you upgrade from Plus to Premier, the Premier Roadside Assistance benefits become effective 3 days after payment in full has been processed; however, if needed, you will be able to use the Plus Roadside Assistance benefits for those 3 days.
